If you know me at all, you know that traveling has been a norm my entire life. Due to my dad's job, and now because of my own, I have the incredible privilege of visiting, and living in countries all over the world!
I read something recently that had a list of "You know you are a missionary by...," and #1 was "You can't answer the question, "Where are you from?" You have no idea how known I felt all of a sudden by reading that statement! Someone out in the interweb can't really answer that questions either!
My team has started chuckling when someone asks me that question, and can almost rattle off the mess of an answer I give everyone.
"I'm from the world. I've never lived anywhere more than 4 years. My family is mostly from Texas, and I graduated high school in Texas, but really, I claim different places when they are most convenient. For example, around Mardi Gras, or the Saints playing well, I claim New Orleans with pride! Love country music and anything Texas, well then I'm for sure from Texas. Are you an international student? Well let's try to relate by seeing if you are from one of the 4 countries my parents have lived in in the past 7 years."
I love this about my life! People ask if it was hard moving all of the time, but it's all I've ever known.
So...2 weeks ago, I was once again overwhelmed with the sense of "home" I get when I step on foreign soil when I was able to spend a week in Ethiopia. It was UofA's spring break, so a team of 6 of us met up with a team of 7 from Oklahoma to serve alongside the long term Cru team in Addis Ababa. Refreshing, Encouraging, Life Changing would be the first three blaring words that come to mind after that trip! Enjoy reading a little about what the Lord did while we were there!
