Catching up on life

Spring semesters are usually slower than fall semesters. There aren't football games. The freshmen aren't as new anymore, so the first push of the fall semester to do all kinds of things to meet the newbies isn't quite there anymore. Don't get me wrong, we still love them and want to always meet new students regardless of grade, but we tend to have a better grasp on the freshmen class. Spring in general usually just radiates a feeling of more stillness than the busy fall.

Well this Spring semester for me does not really care what might be "usual." Since December 31st, 2009 it's been full steam ahead. Turns out when you begin your year with 2 conferences, show up back to campus the day the students started, don't really have a weekend free until Spring Break and then have basically two jobs running at the same time, that catching up on normal life might take a little longer than normal. I can't tell you how bad I need to clean my apartment, do laundry and go to the grocery to grab some basic necessities.

Despite that I feel like it's taken me 3 weeks to really reorganize my life in a way that I feel like I'm doing anything efficiently (for example remembering that if you buy things to make sandwiches you might want to buy the bread to go with it), I'm LOVING life right now. It has been so fun to reconnect with the girls in my small group. It has been so fun to see the continued energy and momentum of our ministry. It's been so fun to pray for, prepare for and talk to students about the Moscow Summer Project. It's also been so fun to pick swimming back up (which currently is slightly kicking my booty as I get back into after a 2 month hiatus.) So yes this crazy organized woman might not be as organized mentally or physically (as you look at my desk and all that covers it) but I feel SO blessed as I watch the Lord do awesome things all around me.

My last little thought just to remind everyone of how awesome the Lord is and his plan is...remember how this time last year it was me and maybe 2 students going to Moscow together (which didn't happen)? Have I mentioned now there are 3 of us leaders, 8 others staff and 34 applicants?!?!? I am BLOWN away by this fact alone, and can't even imagine what else the Lord has planned for this summer!!!!
