Ren Fest...another world

I have so few words to describe the wonder that is the Texas Renaissance Festival.

What was just a sign on the side of the road that I passed countless times traveling from home to college and back again, was much much more.

It had been at least ten years since my last venture into this other world, but my memory served me well. I knew I was in for an entertaining day in an era long ago.

The minute you walk in, you might come across creatures such as this fellow.

There are jousts, sword fights, music and all kinds of characters including the queens of England, France, Spain and Germany wandering around.

People like to dress up. Sometimes it has to do with the era.

Sometimes people just want to pull out their Halloween costumes. I'm not sure "a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away" is quite the same as the Renaissance.

It is a great time to try a Scotch Egg, sticks of honey or a gigantic turkey leg! Mmmm!

After hours of entertainment this energized group of girls went from this...

to this.

A day well spent.
