This year it was my turn...to Soulja Boy.
My first exposure was when the senior Tech girls introduced themselves through changing the words up a bit. I kept asking some of the other staff girls, "Do you know what they are doing?" Here is a little clip of what their version looked like.
Fast forward a couple of hours the same day, and you have the annual $5 prom where I got the true taste of the actual dance. When it came on everyone got really excited (kind of like when the "Grease" medley comes on and all of the girls start singing at the top of their lungs). Only this time, all broke out into dance. It was a real live version of how in the movie "She's All That" all of the seniors some how know the same dance and do it at their prom.
The dance goes something like, cross-back feet, touch your back leg, something, something, Superman...I'm still learning.
It was one of those moments that I felt like the phrase, "Kids these days" could be muttered. Then I remembered I'm only 24.
So despite feeling way out of the loop of what is cool "these days" and somewhat nerdidly (yeah I know I made that word up) trying to jump into it, I feel like the weekend was a huge success. It motivated me to keep on praying and trusting the Lord while working on raising up my prayer and financial support team to get to Tech as soon as possible.

i have NO earthly idea what you are talking about.
i guess we're both old fogies.
It's all new to me too!! I laughed out loud to hear about your experience. I also felt a bit thankful you passed that on to teach others who've been missing American culture for a while now. Keep us posted on any new discoveries. :)
