"I"ced Coffee

I went to a wedding when I was in 5th grade, and I vividly remember hearing the groom talk about how he knew most of his groomsmen since junior high, and wondered if that would ever be possible for me. I've never lived anywhere more than 4 years in my whole life. I'm on my 10th city of residence, and the number of actual moves is a little harder to count. This is why at the young age of 11 not even in junior high yet, I already wondered if at my wedding some day I would be able to say the same thing.

Fourteen years later, I'm happy to say that yes I will be able to. Side note - part of me feels like I should be getting married to write this post since it all began with talking about a wedding. No wedding, just reminiscing here. Back to post - So yes, fourteen year later, I'm so excited that there are four amazing girls that I've known since 7th or 8th grade that I'm still very close with (if we are all 25 now, are we still considered girls? I don't want to call them women because then I'm a woman too and that sounds old.)

So why is this post called "iced coffee" if I'm rambling on about my dear friends I've known for a long time? Initially I was just going to jump into how when I lived with one of these friends, Laura, and her husband, Andy, for two summers I began my obsession with iced coffee. I then spread the love to her, and now two years later when I went to her house for my goddaughter's second birthday, she reminded me of how I put ice in my coffee and the obsession began again.

Well that is all of two sentences and would have been a lame post. Also, as I was writing, I began to remember other things a little more meaningful than a cup of coffee that's become luke-warm, that I therefore just put a couple of ice cubes in and call "iced coffee." I mean, it is a great thing to do, and I really like it but not so sentimental. Laura actually thought that it was cooler than it really is because she thought it was something I picked up after my first year of living in Italy. I hated to burst her bubble and say no you aren't being Italian by drinking it that way. It is just me who tends to drag my hot coffee around all morning to the point where I'm tired of reheating it and it's easier to just throw ice into it. Random tidbit that I've recently started and might actually be a little gross. I tend to make too much coffee every morning, so one morning I'll have warm coffee, and then the next day there is still enough from the day before, so instead of making a new pot, I'll just add ice to the day old coffee and go on with my day. Have no fear, this is just for me. If I ever offer you coffee, it will be a new pot.

Well, this might have been the most random post I've ever written. I'm not sure the glass of iced coffee (yes a day old) sitting next to me has quite kicked in yet. Not that this post has really left you with a huge desire to indulge in wonder that is a sweet, smooth glass of home-made iced coffee, but in case you are intrigued...here is how you make it.
1. Make your coffee like normal.
2. Add ice.
3. Stir.
4. Drink.
5. Enjoy and I'm sorry that you can't ever get back the length of time it took you to read this post.
