Poetry

I am not a poet. I was always intrigued by poetry, though, and how people could create such meaning with so few words. That said, I had a day with the Lord. At times after spending hours reading my Bible and journaling, I have an urge to try and capture what I was learning through an artistic outlet. Today, I chose poetry. I wanted to share my poems and get your feedback. Not on if they are good or not, but what they make you think of. I don't want to tell you what made me come up with them because I think there is an element of getting to take what you want from it so it becomes more personal to you. Leave some comments to let me know what you think it is about. I might share what I was thinking in a later post, but I am curious to see what others think first.

Poem #1

Standing haughtily with fearful anger in his eyes
A slight nod of his head to begin the death
Undetermined vengeance and unsettled rage
To end the lives of all those who went against his perfect law
Those who knew the hope he longed for, the hope he said he believed in but killed when it came into reality.

Walking day by day in a sad illusion
Considered important with so much power-yet empty.

A light, blinding light to bring him to his knees.
Humbling a man.
Purpose and truth to follow through words from above.

Sight, Forgiveness, Acceptance, and Peace.

A life washed clean. No more anger. No more death.

Life.

Hope and Peace.

Poem #2
Threads jumbled-going each and every way. Mess.

Storms shifting water. Seemingly terrible and destructive.

Battle. Full strategy unknown to all. People lost.

Combine the threads. Combine the storms. Combine the battles.

Flip the tapestry. Rise above the water. End the battle.

Masterpiece. "Glorious Unified Mass." Victory.

Glory

You are a poet, Katie. Poem #1 immediately brought me to my current reading of Romans. I can't wait to share more of my thoughts (at Starbucks?) when I see you next week. S
