A song in my head lately

The other day one of my friends who leads worship was needing another song for his set list for Sunday morning, and we came up with this older song that is still one of my favorites. The words are simple and few, but what I think I love about it so much is how it focuses on the Lord and solely praising Him. So many songs we sing are more focused on us and what we want God to do in us, which isn't bad, but it's nice to praise God for just being God. To focus on Him alone. Enjoy!

Forever
Michael W. Smith
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good. His love endures forever.
-Psalm 136

Give thanks to the Lord, Our God and King
His love endures forever
For He is good, He is above all things
His love endures forever
Sing praise, sing praise

With a mighty hand and outstretched arm
His love endures forever
For the life that's been reborn
His love endures forever
Sing praise, sing praise
Sing praise, sing praise

CHORUS:
Forever God is faithful
Forever God is strong
Forever God is with us
Forever and ever, forever

From the rising to the setting sun
His love endures forever
And by the grace of God we will carry on
His love endures forever
Sing praise, sing praise
Sing praise, sing praise

His love endures forever

Sing praise, sing praise
Sing praise, sing praise

Amen to that, sister! I love the praise songs that are more God focused and less focused on us.
